The California Motorcyclist Safety Program Premier Motorcyclist Training Course (CMSP PMTC) is designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience. This enhanced version of the standard course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction. You will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies.
Topics covered include fear, concentration, right attitude, understanding how motorcycles turn, proper cornering strategies, and emergency crash avoidance skills. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods. Compared to the standard course it provides 8 additional hours of instruction with both classroom and riding time. This makes the PMTC the ideal option for riders who want to get the most comprehensive novice education for managing risk and having fun on two wheels.
Though designed for new riders, any rider that has not taken a motorcycle course will benefit from this training. Motorcycles and helmets are provided in this course.
The course is approximately 16 hours including 10 hours of actual riding time.
This course is mandatory in California for riders under 21. It is highly recommended for anyone else seeking to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on their California driver’s license.
TWST provides the motorcycles and full-face helmets for this course.
Successfully passing both the riding and written examinations of this course will results in issuance of a DL389 DMV Riding Exam Waiver.
