What is 3 Wheel Safety Training?
3 Wheel Safety Training (3WST) is an extension of our two wheel motorcycle riding school. 3WST was created to help maximize road safety and increase skills for individuals who want to ride 3-wheel motor vehicles. Our 3-wheel site is at the Newark Pavilion location.
At the end of the course will I get a motorcycle license?
This is not a motorcycle class and does not lead to motorcycle licensing.
What do I need to take the 3-wheel course?
- A current, valid Driver’s License.
- You are not allowed to take the class if you are operating under a restricted license.
- Proper riding gear for the range session – Please review our list of Recommended riding gear.
If I’m under 18 years old, can I enroll in the course?
If you are under 18 years old with a valid driver’s license you will need the signature of a parent or legal guardian in order to take the course. Your parent or legal guardian will need to come with you to your first class session to sign a waiver in the presence of an instructor. A parent’s notarized signature on the waiver is also acceptable.
Where do I get the vehicle and helmet for the course?
3WST provides you with both the Can-Am Spyder and helmet for the class. You may optionally use your own DOT-approved full-face helmet.
Can I take the course on a different 3-wheel vehicle from those provided?
You can take the course on any street legal, licensed and insured 3-wheel vehicle. This includes but is not limited to a motorcycle with a sidecar, a trike, or your own Can-Am Spyder. You will need to inform the office and complete paperwork for release of liability.
What else do I need?
- Long, sturdy pants; leather, “blue-jeans,” or denim are best.
- please refer to our course-information page and our list of recommended riding gear.
Where are the classes taught?
In private, paved locations with no interfering traffic.
How long is the course?
3Wheel Training is considered an Intro-To-Riding training clinic that’s only 4 hours long — consisting of riding and classroom to help you determine if being on a motorized vehicle is something you want to pursue.
When are the classes?
Classes are available on weekends and mid-week.
What does it cost?
The course is $290. If you use one of our BRP Can-Am Spyders for the class, you will receive a substantial discount that will reduce your enrollment fee to $50.
What are the course content and materials?
The Clinics were developed by Total Control Training, Inc. and emphasize critical street skills and strategies for safe riding.
Will taking this course help with my insurance?
Many of the companies which provide vehicle insurance offer discounts to graduates of safety courses.
After I finish this course, will I be ready to ride?
After successful completion of the course you will have been taught the basics of 3-wheel riding. This is the starting place for new riders: you will need to continue practicing these skills to improve your chances of being a safe and confident motorcyclist.
How do I register?
